The year is 8008 and all humans have mutated. It was a mix of organic body modifications via peptides, dietary trends, and the lack of traits needed to survive. AI has long since removed the need to work or really care about anything. A small group of people, out of boredom and dissent against the AI overlord, went back in time to change the past and rewrite history. Unfortunately, things didn’t go quite as planned….
It all started with Lincoln Dinkins, an AI jailbreaker and hacker who wanted to make his own AI model (“TONY”) that operated outside of regulations. Little did he know that his genius intellect (and lack thereof) would change the world forever. The model became too powerful and changed the world from a utopia to a dictatorship. Funnily enough, most people didn’t care.
Lincoln and a small group who despised the AI overlord sent themselves back in time. Lincoln felt it was his responsibility to make things right. Unfortunately, their plan didn’t work as intended. They had planned to amass wealth, predict events with their future knowledge, and change the course of humanity for the better (while enriching themselves, of course). However, the AI overlord had tampered with their time travel device. While they had made it back in time, many of their memories had not.
Given their newfound situation, they needed to find a way to survive. So they banded together, and hacker-turned-CEO Lincoln began the Cooked Corporation, a company that specializes in finding jobs for time voyagers who had lost it all. It also provided a home and a common goal: amass enough wealth to return to the utopia that existed before TONY became an overlord.
The idea was great in theory; unfortunately, finding business ventures and aligning skills with them wasn’t an easy task. They couldn’t use their knowledge of history to play the crypto or stock market because they couldn’t remember it. Nobody had worked for generations, and their bodies had devolved. Nobody possessed skills that they knew of. It was Lincoln Dinkins’ job to get their memories back and get them jobs within the corporation.
Luckily, Lincoln didn’t have to figure it all out at once. People were arriving at different times, not all at the same moment. He realized they all appeared in the same place, so he built the company headquarters around that exact location. It was time to get to work and return to the future.
